OGB-6F fluorescence was measured within the synaptic terminal of the rod shown in the control and postflash images above the graph. Scale bar = 5 μm. The trace at the bottom of the figure shows the postsynaptic current of the horizontal evoked by flash photolysis of caged Ca²⁺ in this rod. Latency was measured from the occurrence of flash to the beginning of the postsynaptic current indicated by the arrows.
