Oxidation of 8-oxoguanine initiated by the photolysis of AAPH in oxygenated solutions. Peroxyl radicals, ROO produced by the photolysis of AAPH recombine to form the tetraoxide ROOOOR. The spontaneous cleavage of ROOOOR generates highly reactive oxyl radicals (RO) and superoxide radicals (O2•−) with yields of x and y, respectively.
