Comparison of oxidation rates measured in microbial experiments in the current study of Acidovorax sp. strain BoFeN1 (Table 1), Fe(II)-oxidizing phototrophs at circumneutral pH (Croal et al., 2004), and low-pH Fe(II)-oxidizing bacteria (Balci et al., 2006). The study of Croal et al. (2004) was conducted at room temperature, whereas those of Balci et al. (2006) and the current work were conducted at different temperatures, as noted.
