Note the large maximum interval encountered on CFA2, which is a consequence of the inability to identify BAC clones with unique FISH signals due to the presence of highly repetitive DNA sequence near the centromere. The large maximum interval for CFAX is due to under-representation of the CFAX centromere in the dog genome sequence, which is also attributed to extensive tracts of repetitive sequence in this region.
