Experiment 1 results. The average percentage of trials on which the context-consistent side within the unbiased-section of the display was chosen as figural (i.e., in accord with the side biased as figural in the separate biased-section) is plotted as a function of edge-grouping and region-color-similarity factors. Error bars represent 95% within-subjects confidence intervals. Note the higher context-consistent responses in the edge-grouped condition, with this slightly increased when regional color is also similar.
