Succinate transport by DctA_Bs in membrane vesicles in the presence of putative transport inhibitors. Transport of [¹⁴C]succinate (3.1 μM) in the presence of , , and ΔΨ (−118 mV) was measured as described in the legend to Fig. 2A. The external buffer was supplemented with a 50-fold excess of the indicated compounds. Initial transport rates were determined as described in the legend to Fig. 2B and normalized with respect to the rate without inhibitors [100%, corresponding to 37.5 pmol (mg protein·s)⁻¹]. Measurements were performed in quadruplicate, and standard deviations are shown.
