Fold change in C. pneumoniae GE numbers after passage of flat (□) and filter-grown (▪) primary cell cultures at different times postinfection. The numbers of C. pneumoniae genome equivalents (GEs) obtained after passage on HL cells were adjusted to the whole sample size and divided by the number of GEs present in the primary culture.
