Prevalence of 25-hydroxyvitamin D deficiency and insufficiency in patients and controls. Serum levels of vitamin D of less than 30 ng/ml were found in 94.5% of patients, which is the range consistent with insufficiency, and includes six patients (10.9%) with less than 10 ng/ml. 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels in patients were significantly lower than controls (p = 0.03).
