AGS cells were pretreated for 30 min with an anti-HB-EGF neutralizing antibody (3 μg/ml) or HB-EGF (10 ng/ml), as indicated, and then infected with H. pylori for 90 min (A) or 24 h (B) A: Cellular lysates were analyzed by Western blot analysis to detect EGFR, Akt, ERK1/2 MAPK and p38 activation as described in Figures 1 and 4. B. Apoptosis was detected using TUNEL assay as described in Figure 4. Apoptotic cells were enumerated by counting at least 500 cells.
