Activity of nuclear factor κb (nfκb) in MIA PaCa-2 and PANC-1 cells as affected by sulfasalazine (sasp) and monosodium glutamate (msg). Activity of nfκb was measured by nfκb-promoter luciferase assay in (A) MIA PaCa-2 cells and (B) PANC-1 cells, untreated or pretreated with tumour necrosis factor α (tnfα) for 3 hours to induce nfκb activation, followed by a 24-hour incubation with sasp 0.2 mmol/L or msg 10 mmol/L in maintenance medium in the absence or presence of 2-mercaptoethanol 66 μmol/L.
