miR-215 inhibits cell proliferation partly dependent on the p53 status in cancer cell lines. Each cell type was transfected with 100 nM of miR control or miR-215 and cell numbers were determined by the WST-1 assays. miR control was used as the negative control. A remarkable inhibition of cell proliferation was observed in the p53 wild-type cell lines, U-2 OS and HCT 116 (wt-p53) (A and B), whereas much less effect was observed in the p53 mutant osteosarcoma MG63 cells or p53 knockout colon cancer HCT 116 (null-p53) cells (C and D).
