Early third-instar larvae from eyeless mutant populations were tested in the locomotion assay after experiencing the six control and bright light treatments. From the raw data, half-times (t1/2), or times in which 50% of the larval population reached the yeast, were manually determined by interpolation.

Statistical tests to compare the t1/2 values of the “rest before water” control and the “bright light with no recovery” populations were performed using one-way Analyses of Variance (ANOVA). The populations did not differ significantly from one another (P > 0.05), indicated by n.s. In addition, they did not differ significantly from the control populations of the UAS-mCD8-GFP; ddc-GAL4 line (P > 0.05).

n represents the sample size, or number of assays run. The total number of larvae tested is indicated in brackets [ ].
