Androgens but not estrogens induce atrophy in HSA-AR Tg females. Female HSA-AR mice are asymptomatic unless treated with androgens. Seven days of treatment with silastic capsules containing testosterone (T), dihydrotestosterone (DHT), but not empty capsule vehicles (VEH), or capsules containing 17β estradiol (E2), results in inability to hang suspended (top), and a marked reduction in body weight (bottom).
