Distributions of volumetric error (v(AAM)-v(automated)) reveal that FreeSurfer systematically overestimated the volumes of the hippocampus and, to a lesser extent, the putamen and amygdala. IBASPM volumetric error was more variable in all structures except the amygdala, and only in the left putamen and left hippocampus can a trend toward systematic error be seen.
