Burkholderia invasion of respiratory epithelial cells in vitro. Monolayers of murine LA-4 (a) and human A549 (b) cells were infected with B. mallei (B.m), the bopA mutant (GCW005), B. pseudomallei (B.pm 576) or E. coli at an m.o.i. of 10 and the percentage invasion (from the initial inoculum) was determined at 4 h p.i.
