Signal strength in the right lingual gyrus (Left) and in the right parahippocampal gyrus (PHG) (Right) in males and females. Significant gender differences were observed in the lingual gyrus (p = 0.013) and the PHG (p = 0.016). In both regions, gender differences were the result of significant task-related deactivation (Identification > Calculation) in females. Signal strength in males was not significantly different from baseline. 10mm sphere ROIs about the peak activated voxels within the ventral visual stream (see Figure 3) are shown here.
