Phagocytosis in Atgl−/− and WT mice in vivo. Fluorescein-labeled E. coli particles (200 μl) were injected into Atgl−/− and WT mice. After 2 h, peritoneum was flushed with 10 ml of PBS, 1 mm EDTA, and macrophages were isolated and assayed for total (A) and internalized (B) fluorescence after quenching of extracellular fluorescence by trypan blue.
