For patients with diabetes onset before 10 or 10–19 years of age, there is no significant difference between male and female subjects (P = 0.53 and P = 0.50), but with onset at 20–34 years of age there is a difference, although borderline significant, between male and female subjects in risk of developing ESRD (P = 0.05).
