The major crystal/PMT decoding geometry options developed for current PET scanners. The continuous ‘Anger’ approach uses an array of PMTs to decode a large, continuous crystal or array of crystals. The ‘block detector’ uses four PMTs to decode an array of crystals with various combinations of reflectors and surface treatments between the crystals.
