Growth rates of Ba/F3 cells transformed with TEL/PDGFβR F-mutants. Ba/F3 cell lines expressing TEL/PDGFβR, TEL/PDGFβR mutants, or vector alone control were plated in media without IL-3 at the indicated concentration. Cells excluding Trypan blue were counted daily. Similar results were obtained from 3 replicate experiments. A representative example is plotted here. Cells expressing TEL/PDGFβR and all F-mutants continued to proliferate in the absence of IL-3 at the same rate. Small differences in growth rates were not consistently reproduced in repeat experiments.
