Additionally adjusted for age, baseline and 6-year change in body composition (see **), years taking hormones over the 6-year period, baseline exercise energy expenditure and whether or not it was representative of more, less, or usual activity (self report);
baseline weight used in all models; covariates for lean soft tissue used in Models 1–3 and fat tissue in Model 4. Annual exercise frequency = sessions performed/sessions prescribed for that year. These annual exercise frequencies were then averaged over the 6 years. Weight lifted in military press and squats represents annual kilograms multiplied by repetitions and by sets and then summed for 6 years.
