Figure 5

No change in the ubiquitin-proteasome system, autophagy or oxidative stress in α-syn(1-120) transgenic mice. Proteasomal activities in the striatum of α-syn(1-120) mice at 18 months of age. Trypsin-, chymotrypsin- and caspase-like activities did not differ between transgenic and control mice (A). Immunoblots of nigral extracts from 18-month-old control (n = 4) and α-syn(1-120) (n = 6) mice showed no changes in the levels of proteasomal subunits Rpt1, alpha 1.7 or alpha 5 (B). Immunoblot of nigral extracts from 18-month-old control (n = 4) and α-syn(1-120) (n = 6) mice showed no change in the level of the autophagosomal marker LC3-2 (C). Aconitase activity in striatum and substantia nigra of 18-month-old α-syn(1-120) mice did not differ from that of control mice (D).
