Oral bone loss in response to P. gingivalis challenge in ApoE^−/− and ApoE^−/− TLR2^−/− mice. ApoE^−/− and ApoE^−/− TLR2^−/− mice were orally challenged with P. gingivalis. Linear measurements of bone loss (14 sites) were obtained from the maxillary molars of each mouse. Uninfected ApoE^−/− mice (8), P. gingivalis-challenged ApoE^−/− mice (6), unchallenged ApoE^−/− TLR2^−/− mice (7), and P. gingivalis-challenged ApoE^−/− TLR2^−/− mice (6), respectively.
