SMI-32 positive cells are decreased in the spinal cord of dfw2J as compared with its wild-type (WT) control (A). SMI-32-positive cells/mm2 gray matter is also lower in dfw2J (B) when the reduction in gray matter area is taken into consideration (C). Three dfw2J and WT mice were used. Ten sections obtained from each lumbar spinal cord at 100 μm intervals were analyzed. Values are presented as means ± SEM. Significantly different from WT ***P < 0.0001 and **P < 0.002 by Student’s t test.
