Plot of conditional resolving power vs. the square root of the operating voltage for the environmental contaminants TCE (diamonds) & PCE (triangles). Both plots were obtained with a 200 μs gate pulse width (tg). The result showed that the optimum voltage for the two contaminants was 1,200 V, but the voltage chosen for operation in the field was 3,100 V to the increase sensitivity of the signal.
