Crosslinking of CTLA-4 on regulatory T cells (Tregs) and B7 on dendritic cells (DC) leads to the induction of IDO and IFN-γ on DCs and B220+ CD8α+ DCs. This resulting immunomodulatory enviroment is capable to suppress local T cell responses and promotes systemic tolerance.
