Virus replication is required for IFN-α/β induction. N20.1 cells were infected with UV-inactivated MHV-A59/GFP or live MHV-A59/GFP at an MOI of 10 or mock infected as a control. At various times p.i. as indicated, culture medium was collected for determination of the IFN-α/β protein levels with respective ELISA kits. The results are expressed as the mean picograms per ml for three independent experiments. Error bars indicate standard deviations of the means.
