¹values represent the rates of disappearance (not involved in synthesis) and appearance (synthesized from its precursor) of the n−3 fatty acids. Values were determined from the fractional rate constant coefficients and plasma masses for each fatty acid. For example, R_3,2 is the hourly amount of plasma 18:3n−3 involved in synthesis of 20:5n−3, and R_0,1 is the turnover of 18:3n−3 in each subject.
