TABLE 1.

Voltage-Dependent Activation Parameters in PC12 Cells

V50 (mV) k
Control −5.5 ± 2.5 4.7 ± 0.5
5μM AL −9.5 ± 3.4 3.8 ± 1.0
TTX −9.9 ± 2.9 3.2 ± 1.4
TTX + AL −8.6 ± 2.6 5.1 ± 1.3
GVIA −6.2 ± 3.1 4.8 ± 0.7
GVIA + AL −12.0 ± 3.5a 5.2 ± 0.4
NIM −2.1 ± 3.5 3.6 ± 0.9
NIM + AL −0.90 ± 3.4 4.4 ± 0.5

Note. Parameters were estimated using the Boltzman equation (G/Gmax = 1/(1 + e−(VV50)/k)), where V50 is the half-activation voltage and k is a measure of steepness. No significant differences were observed within treatments, except that cells exposed to both GVIA and AL exhibited activation at a significantly more negative potential than cells exposed to GVIA alone. Values are reported as the mean ± SEM, n = 5–7 cells per condition.
