Gγ8-tgOR expression dramatically changes functional activity in the dorsal OB. A–F, ISI illustrating OB activity elicited by n-propanal (A, B), n-butanal (C, D), and ethyl n-butyrate (E, F) in 20-week-old mice. In control animals, several glomeruli distributed over the anterior half of the dorsal OB show strong and differential activation by odorants, as indicated by the dark ISI signal (A, C, E). In contrast, no discernible glomeruli are activated in Gγ8-M72 mice; instead a broad area of activation is detected in the anterior of the OB (B, D, F). Scale bar, 250 μm.
