A litter of four mice at the age of 3 weeks including two control LRP5+/− (C1 and C2) and two mutant LRP5−/− (M1 and M2) was used for the experiment. As expected, no LRP5 PCR fragment was detected in the knockout retinas. The expression level of Slc38a5 was significantly reduced in the LRP5−/− retinas compared to the LRP5+/−. No consistent changes of expression level of LRP6, FZD4 and β-catenin were observed.
