Inflammatory lesions of tissues in raccoons experimentally infected with Trypanosoma cruzi via different routes. Inoculation methods were as follows: group 1 intravenously (i.v.) with 1 × 10⁶ culture-derived trypomastigotes; groups 2, 3, and 4 per os (p.o.) with 33.3 g of amastigote-infected tissue at 2, 12, and 24 hr post-mortem, respectively; group 5 p.o. with 3 infected R. prolixis fourth or fifth instar nymphs; and group 6 p.o. with 1 × 10⁶ culture-derived trypomastigotes.
