The most common finding on computed tomography scans is thickening of the colon wall, from 3 mm to 3 cm. The thickening is pan-colonic here, although it can also be focal. Contrast trapped within very thick haustra, producing alternating bands of high and low density, is called the accordion sign. Minimal pericolonic stranding and ascites are present.
