Enamel and dentin microhardness

The enamel hardness of NBCe1^−/− animals was too soft to measure. The dentin of NBCe1^−/− animals was significantly softer than that of NBCe1^+/+ and NBCe1^+/− animals as determined by analysis of variance (p < 0.05). Neither enamel nor dentin hardness differed between NBCe1^+/− and NBCe1^+/+ animals as determined by analysis of variance or multiple comparison testing (p > 0.05). Values are means ± S.D.
