Control (a, b) and apoE−/− (c,d) mice brain sections were examined by immunohistochemistry for the presence of IL-6 (20X). Staining for IL-6 was not detectable in either control mice on normal diet (a) or control mice on homocysteine diet (b). In contrast, reactivity to the IL-6 antibody (brown HRP staining) was faint in sections from apoE−/− mice on control diet (c) and strongly expressed around blood vessels in apoE−/− mice on homocysteine diet (d).
