Confluent monolayers of eukaryotic cells were infected with C. sakazakii at an MOI of 100 and incubated for 1.5 h, followed by gentamicin treatment (100 μg/ml) for 1.5 h. The cells were then treated with 0.4% Triton X-100 to obtain the intracellular bacteria.
