The self-referenced glutamate signal (bottom tracing; Self Ref; note 3 hr break in time axis) reveals that 25 mg/kg kynurenine produces a smaller maximal decrease in glutamate (1.3 μM) than 50 mg/kg of kynurenine (cf. Fig. 4). Glutamate levels return to basal values within 3 ½ hrs (see Table 1 for group data).
