The average number of SGPs ± SD per gonad at stage 16/17 was 33.9 ± 2.8 in Egfrtsla/+ embryos and 35.2 ± 3.0 in Egfrts embryos (20 gonads were examined in each case). These values were not significantly different (P > 0.05, Student's t test).
