In the case of the PAMAM dendrimers, the number of interior aliphatic amines is two less than the number of carboxylic acid groups. Triazines have no aliphatic amines. The number of carboxylic acid groups for PAMAM dendrimers is theoretical: structural defects can result in numbers less than the listed theoretical values.
