Activation of αβγE234C by MTSET depends on the presence of an Na⁺ self-inhibition response. The same method as described in Fig. 6D was used to examine the effects of 1 mm MTSET on the currents and Na⁺ self-inhibition responses in oocytes expressing αβγE234C (A), αβγE234C-H239R (B), αβγR143A-Δ144–186-E234C (C), or αβS518K/γE234C (D). Application of MTSET is shown (black bar). The gray bars at the end of the traces indicate the presence of 10 μm amiloride. The responses of each group were examined in at least four oocytes.
