DNA-damage irradiation stimulates the gene expression and mitochondrial translocation of p53, cyclin B1 and Cdk1. Mitochondrial cyclin B1 and Cdk1 form a functional complex to phosphorylate p53, which leads to enhanced ATP production and suppression of mitochondria-mediated apoptosis.
