Growth defects associated with jac1Δ32. (A) 1:10 serial dilutions of strains deleted for JAC1 and carrying plasmids expressing either wild-type JAC1 or jac1Δ32 were spotted onto YP plates containing glucose (Upper) or glycerol (Lower) and incubated at 30°C or 37°C for 4 days. (B) Mitochondrial proteins (10 or 20 μg) isolated from strains carrying either wild-type JAC1 or jac1Δ32 grown in YP glycerol/ethanol media at 30°C were separated by electrophoresis and subjected to immunoblot analysis with Jac1 (Upper) or Mge1 (Lower) specific antibodies.
