Dose-responsive induction of cathelicidin by 25OHD3 in monocytes cultured in medium supplemented with serum from donors with different DBP genotypes. Human monocytes cultured in medium supplemented with 5% serum from sex-matched (male) and age-matched (30–39 yr) donors were treated with 25OHD3 (0–150 nm) for 6 h. RNA from the resulting cells was then analyzed by RT-PCR for cathelicidin mRNA expression.
