Hybridization induced changes in cantilever deflection under two
conditions. The 30-nt-long probe ssDNA were immobilized at 1 M PB
concentration. In one case, hybridization occurred at 1 M PB
concentration, which led to upward cantilever motion. In the second
case, the PB concentration was first reduced to 0.1 M, after which
hybridization occurred. In this case, the cantilever deflection was
downward.
