FIG 3

Kinetic studies of AGE formation in proteins and in low-molecular-weight fractions. Samples were kept at 37°C, and AGEs were monitored every 30 min for 2 h by measurement of AGE-specific fluorescence. The emission spectrum from 400 nm to 480 nm upon excitation at 370 nm is presented. Kinetics of AGE formation in the protein fractions (A and B) and low-molecular-weight fractions (E and F) of wild-type and Gcp-depleted (gcp) strains, respectively. Effect of 2 mM DTT (C) or 100 mM aminoguanidine (AG) (D) on the kinetics of AGE formation in the protein fractions extracted from Gcp-depleted bacteria.
