a

The observed second-order rate constant for the protein-catalyzed reactions of [1-13C]-GA. The second-order rate constants for catalysis by TIM are calculated for one monomer of this dimeric enzyme. The quoted errors are the standard deviation of linear correlations of reaction progress against time.

b

The fractional yield of the products from the protein-catalyzed reactions of [1-13C]-GA. This is the average of the product yields determined at 3–5 different reaction times.

c

The second-order rate constant for the protein-catalyzed deuterium exchange reactions of [1-13C]-GA: (kE)P = fP(kE)obs.

d

e

Data from reference (13).

g

The second-order rate constant for general base-catalyzed deprotonation of glyceraldehyde by 3-quinuclidinone (22).
