Lack of effect of butyrate on functional maturation of DCs. DCs (CD11c⁺Gr-1⁻ cells), obtained on day 6 from bone marrow cell cultures in the presence of GM-CSF were cultured with or without LPS (lipopolysaccharide) (100 ng/ml) and in the presence or absence of butyrate (0.5 mm). Twenty-four hours later, cells were harvested and analyzed for CD86 (B7.2) and CD11c (A) or for I-A^d (MHC-class II) and CD11c (B). The numbers represent the percentage of positive cells in the corresponding quadrants.
