On signal absent trials (A), angular motion was counterclockwise around the yaw axis with Gaussian velocity profile (peak velocity/acceleration of 15°/s−1·36.15°/s−2 in this example) like that shown in E; no linear movement was presented (C). On signal present trials (B), in addition to the identical angular motion profile (F), nasooccipital linear motion was presented with a synchronized Gaussian velocity profile (peak velocity/acceleration 3.16°/s−1·7.61/cm/s−2), generating traces like those shown in D.
