Summary of analyses of variance (ANOVA) on the sample scores of the two leading axes of a standardized principal components analysis (PCA) of GC-TOF-MS and LC-FT-MS data (Fig. S1 and S2). Block identity, sown species richness (as log-linear term) and legume proportions (ranging from 0 when legumes were absent to 1 for pure legume communities) were fitted sequentially (type I sums of squares).
