The number of cooccurring pairs of segments as a function of their relative difference in orientation (ξ = ψ − ϕ). These values were obtained after integrating the histogram of cooccurrences in space for different angular configurations. Each point in the graph (ξ) corresponds to the average and the standard deviation of the 16 different configurations obtained by choosing one of the 16 possible values for the first orientation (ϕ) and then setting ψ = (ϕ + ξ)(modulo16).
